My Journey
When I found out from the vet that my beloved cat Diva was suffering with tumors in her lungs I knew I had some hard decisions to make. Alas, it was much more advanced than I realized and she died in my arms at home.
Unsure of what to do next, I reached out to my friend Rita Ann Freeman. She advised that I should wrap my Diva carefully and placed her in the freezer so that I could have the time to process what I must do now that she is gone.
When I was ready, I went back to consult with my vet and they presented me with 2 options for cremation:

- I could have her cremated with other pets and she would be disposed of in an unmarked site with the others.
- I could pay more for a private cremation so that I could take her ashes.
I discovered a third option which was going directly to the cremation facility. I chose this because it was more cost-effective than other alternatives and it allowed me to personally transport my pet, ensuring she remained in my care throughout the journey. This approach gave me peace of mind, knowing I could oversee the entire process from start to finish.
When it came to the urn choice I did not like any of them. They spoke of grief to me, of ancient funeral symbols, so I left with my Diva’s ashes in a cardboard box knowing that when I saw something that spoke to me for her ashes I would put her there.
And thus was born – WhiskerTorium.
It is my goal to provide beautiful resting places for everyone’s beloved pets and to help animals in need along the way.
